Sauna heaters
What kind of power connection do I need for a Sauna Heater?
In most cases, sauna heaters require a 400V high-voltage connection, especially for outputs of around 3–3.5 kW or higher. This depends on the size of the sauna, as heaters with a 230V connection are generally only suitable for very small sauna rooms. The larger the room, the higher the heater output required. A rule of thumb for this is approx. 1 kW per 1 m³ of sauna volume.
What types of sauna heaters are available and what are the differences between them?
There are electric Finnish sauna heaters, bio or combination heaters, and wood-burning heaters. Electric Finnish heaters generate classic dry heat and are ideal for infusions. Bio heaters also have an evaporator that can be used to regulate humidity. Wood-burning heaters are fired with wood, require an exhaust pipe, and are often used in Outdoor Saunas. The choice of heater depends on the technical requirements and the desired sauna experience.
Which sauna stones are best suited?
Sauna stones have a significant influence on heat development and the sauna experience. Angular stones generally offer better heat development, as well as particularly good heat storage and release. Round stones are particularly appealing due to their appearance, but also offer solid heat performance. The quality and heat resistance of the stones are crucial. It is recommended to use only stones that are specifically suitable for sauna heaters.
What accessories are needed for a Sauna Heater?
The most important accessories include sauna stones and a control unit. In some cases, a base plate, protective grille, or safety distances are also required. Sauna stones and controls are already included in the scope of delivery for many models. Whether additional accessories are necessary depends on the respective stove model and the installation situation. The exact requirements should be checked before installation.
Can sauna heaters be controlled via Wi-Fi or an app?
Most of our sauna heaters offer the option of Wi-Fi or app control. This feature may be integrated or available as an option, depending on the model. Heaters with an integrated control unit may offer limited expansion options. App control allows for convenient operation and time-controlled use. Whether this feature is available depends on the specific heater and control system.
What heater output do I need for my sauna?
The required heater power depends on the size of the sauna room, the insulation, and the materials used. As a rough rule of thumb, approximately 1 kW of power per cubic meter of sauna volume is required. Additional factors such as glass surfaces or poor insulation can increase the power requirement. For a precise calculation, we recommend using a sauna calculator or seeking individual advice. The right stove power is crucial for an optimal sauna experience.
Can any Sauna Heater be used in any sauna?
Not every Sauna Heater is suitable for every sauna, as size, construction, and technical requirements must be taken into account. The room size, electrical connection power, and safety requirements are particularly important. In addition, the manufacturer's specifications regarding minimum distances and installation conditions must be observed. Outdoor Saunas often use different types of heaters than Indoor Saunas. Before purchasing, you should therefore check whether the heater is compatible with the respective sauna.
How safe are modern sauna heaters?
Modern sauna heaters have various safety features, such as overheating protection and temperature-dependent shut-offs. Commercial or larger systems require additional safety measures such as emergency shut-off switches. Safety also depends on professional installation and regular maintenance. High-quality models comply with current technical norms and safety standards. For maximum safety, the manufacturer's instructions should always be followed.
What BImSchV certification do you offer for sauna heaters?
BImSchV certification refers to the Federal Immission Control Ordinance and is relevant for wood-burning stoves. We offer sauna stoves with both BImSchV Level 1 and BImSchV Level 2 certification. The product description specifies which stoves meet the respective certification. If no information is available, please feel free to contact us at any time. We will be happy to advise you on the selection of a suitable stove.
